Like the Zoom strength November 24, 2008
Haven't used it much because i just got it but i can tell you one of my twin Granddaughter's (not quite 5yrs old) had no trouble figuring out how to use it. Like the size of LCD too.

Panasonic SDR-H40 40GB Hard Drive Camcorder with 42x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom
In spite of several negative reviews, the camera possessed all of the qualities for which I was searching: compact, lightweight, large HDD capacity and a great transfer program (on included CD). Instructions were easy to follow and software loads easily. Videos and photos are crisp with good color saturation. Works well indoors with normal lighting too.
For the money, it would be hard to beat.

so far this camera has performed to expectations.
takes great pictures and awesome video.
the only thing that i don't like so far is the cheap protective cap for the cable attachments. i am afraid with extended use this cap may break off.

Good camera, bad software November 20, 2008
What to say about this camera? It's good for how I use it. However, the software VideoCam Suite is so bad it may not be worth your purchase. I don't imagine people would want to buy a product from a company that has this sort of software supporting their product. I have attempted to use the software 5 times, each time it has crashed. The software, when it isn't crashing, is so un-intuitive its borderline obnoxious. I truly wish I could recommend this product because if you want a no-frills easy to use camera it's good, but I can't recommend it because of the horrible software. Spend your money somewhere else. I wish I had.

What a great little eye to have. I had a cimilar one, but I broke it. I payed twice what I payed for this one, through Amazon. It's light, not bulky, and has great features like: lots of zoom for distance shots [of wild animals], hours of recording capability, and lets you load-up on still shots separately, on an SD card- woh!
